The Journey of Hyderabad Law College

The vision for Hyderabad Law College was born in 2017 when a group of four passionate educators — Ali Muhammad Soomro, Seetal Das, Raja Aleem Yousuf, and Shamsuddin Chandio — were teaching at various law colleges. During this time, they observed the gaps in legal education and envisioned creating an institution that would truly meet the needs of aspiring law professionals. Despite their shared dream, the financial means to establish their own law college seemed out of reach.

From 2017 to January 2019, the founding team worked together at Shan E Aasi Law College, where they took on both teaching and administrative roles. This experience strengthened their resolve to establish a law college that would not only provide quality education but also leave a lasting impact on the legal landscape of Hyderabad.

In December 2022, a crucial meeting was held at Raja Aleem Yousuf’s residence. It was here that they decided to turn their long-standing dream into reality. With unwavering determination, they created an official WhatsApp group to streamline communication and began searching for a suitable building to rent. On March 17, 2023, a pivotal meeting at Ali Muhammad Soomro’s residence resulted in the final decision to name the institution “Hyderabad Law College,” a name chosen to represent both the city and their ambition to elevate legal education in the region.

After months of searching, they secured a building in Old Wahdat Colony and began the challenging process of securing affiliation. Financial challenges, registration hurdles, and the selection of a principal were just some of the obstacles they faced. However, with relentless effort, these issues were gradually resolved. Advocate Ghulam Sarwar Baloch, a respected figure in legal education with experience as a principal of various law colleges, was selected to lead the college. His appointment marked a significant step forward, as his reputation and expertise aligned with the founders’ vision. After several discussions, he agreed to take up the role, resigning from his position at Sindh Mehran Institute of Law to join the Hyderabad Law College team.

On May 15, 2023, the university’s inspection team visited the college, marking the beginning of a rigorous process. Finally, after continued efforts, on January 22, 2024, Hyderabad Law College received its official affiliation from the University of Sindh.

In July 2024, Hyderabad Law College reached another milestone by moving to a larger, more spacious building on Autobahn Road. This new campus provided students with enhanced facilities, creating an even better environment for education, growth, and success.

This journey, fueled by passion and perseverance, transformed a shared dream into a reality, establishing Hyderabad Law College as a beacon of excellence in legal education.
